Evidence from rural households
Weekly mobile-money users were about a fifth more likely to save regularly than non-users (Wanjiru & Otieno, 2022). Taken together, access to agents may matter more than phone ownership itself. Common questions.
Is this a systematic review or a finished thesis?
No. It's a research drafting aid. It does not do systematic screening, risk-of-bias appraisal or original data collection. Read the papers, verify claims and follow your institution's rules on AI assistance and disclosure.
How reliable is the citation check?
It's an AI review against the text CiteLoom can read: full text for your PDFs, usually only abstracts for searched papers. Treat verdicts as suggestions. Supporting quotes are shown only when they appear word for word in the source, and the evidence basis is shown for every paper.
Can I approve what gets cited before it writes?
Yes, and it's on by default. After the search you see every paper with its abstract and the proposed outline. Remove papers, edit or reorder chapters, then approve. Nothing is written before that.
What counts as one draft?
One generated document up to your page limit. Approving the plan, rewriting sections, AI fixes, section edits, evidence tables and switching citation style don't use another credit.
What if generation fails or is interrupted?
A credit is reserved at the start and refunded automatically if the draft fails. If the AI service is temporarily unavailable, the draft pauses with everything saved and resumes from the same point at no extra cost.
Is my work used to train AI models?
Uploaded text and drafts are sent to the configured AI provider for processing. CiteLoom itself has no model-training workflow. Check the provider's terms and your institution's rules before uploading sensitive material. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time.
Which citation styles and formats are supported?
Seven presets: APA 7, Harvard, Chicago (author-date), MLA 9, IEEE, Vancouver and AMA 11, with volume, issue, pages and same-author-year disambiguation when the data exists. Always check the final list against your style guide. Export to Word (.docx), PDF, LaTeX, BibTeX, RIS or straight to Overleaf to finish formatting.
Can I upload papers in other languages, or scanned PDFs?
Yes. Sources can be in any language, and scanned PDFs are transcribed by AI (please spot-check them). Up to the first 40,000 characters of each paper are used.
